The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is celebrating a significant financial victory, demonstrating robust tax collection in the current fiscal year. Within just seven months, from April 1 to November 15, 2025, the corporation has amassed an impressive ₹1,270.93 crore in property tax. This figure already accounts for a substantial 72.81% of the total property tax target for the year, signaling strong fiscal health.
The momentum isn’t limited to property taxes alone. Including professional tax and vehicle tax, the AMC’s total tax collection has soared to ₹1,601.07 crore, achieving 71.03% of its overall tax target. Key contributions from other streams include ₹170.34 crore from professional tax and ₹143.61 crore from vehicle tax.
The city’s diverse zones have all played a vital role, with the West Zone leading the charge by collecting ₹309.31 crore, closely followed by the North-West Zone at ₹278.28 crore.

Strict Enforcement Pays Off
This collection success is attributed, in part, to strict and proactive enforcement measures against chronic tax defaulters. The AMC has signaled that non-compliance will not be tolerated.
In a strong message to outstanding taxpayers:
445 properties belonging to defaulters have been placed under lien in the Collector’s records, effectively preventing the owners from selling them.
100 properties were listed for auction, though 54 defaulters settled their dues before the proceedings began.
AMC officials confirm that this firm approach has not only boosted recovery rates but has also cultivated better compliance among property owners. This financial discipline is crucial for funding public infrastructure and services, ensuring Ahmedabad’s continued development.
