In a deeply symbolic event, Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya on Tuesday to lead the ‘Dhwajarohan Ceremony’ at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, where he hoisted a large saffron flag atop the temple’s towering shikhara in the presence of Mohan Bhagwat and Yogi Adityanath.
The flag’s unfurling, timed within the auspicious Abhijit muhurat, marked the completion of the temple’s construction and signaled a new chapter for the site long central to India’s religious and cultural narrative. Prior to the hoisting, Modi offered prayers at the Ram Darbar and at the Sapt Mandir inside the complex, emphasizing the spiritual themes of unity and devotion behind the event.
Security across Ayodhya was elevated to unprecedented levels: nearly 7,000 personnel were deployed, mobile and vehicle movements on key routes restricted, and drone surveillance activated to oversee the proceedings. The venue was decorated and prepared to host thousands of believers and dignitaries for a ceremony many viewed as the culmination of a decades-long quest.
As the saffron banner fluttered against the temple’s sky-piercing spire, the crowd let out jubilant chants of “Jai Shri Ram”, capturing the emotive resonance of the moment among devotees and observers.
